Besta deild

The Besta deild kvenna is the top tier of women’s football in Iceland. Organised by the Football Association of Iceland, it brings together the country’s leading women’s clubs in the national championship. The season begins with a home-and-away regular phase. The top six teams then advance to the championship group, while the bottom four enter the relegation group, with all previously earned points carried forward. The team finishing first is crowned Icelandic champion, while the bottom two are relegated.
