The National Women’s Soccer League, commonly known as the NWSL, is the leading professional women’s soccer league in the United States. It brings together the country’s top clubs in a competition known for its intensity, competitive balance and growing ability to attract some of the best players in the world. In its current format, the NWSL begins with a single-table regular season, followed by single-elimination playoffs. The NWSL champion is crowned after the playoff final, while the NWSL Shield is awarded to the team with the best regular-season record.
